¶ General Requirements
- When doing maintenance on your AMOS unit, please ensure the unit is powered off and that power is removed from the unit.
¶ Prepping Your AMOS
- Place your unit on a flat surface. It is recommended to use two people to move the AMOS units around.
- Remove your bed from your unit using a 2.5mm hex at the three Z Yokes.
- Lay your unit on the opposite side of the belt you are planning to replace.
- Remove the lower enclosure of the side of the unit you are intending to work on.
- For earlier units, the base of the unit is a full U shape and wraps up both sides, and it may be easier to remove this by laying the unit on its back after removing the back door.
- Removing the top enclosure is not required, but it can be helpful when adjusting belt tension.
- If you are replacing the Z belt on the right side of your unit, remove the cable chain for your Z Axis using a 2mm Hex
¶ Replacing the Z Belt
¶ Loosen the belt tension
- Using a 2.5mm hex, loosen the two bolts directly over the belt tensioners to allow slack in the belt.
¶ Remove Yoke Bolts
- Using a 2.5mm hex, remove the four 65mm M3 bolts that mount the Z Yoke to o the linear rail.
- The two bolts towards the center of the system will give some resistance due to the friction on the belt.
¶ Tilt the Yoke
- Tilt the Yoke towards the center of the unit, exposing the Yoke Spacer where the belt is retained.
¶ Belt Removal
- Slide the belt out of the retention slot
¶ Belt Replacement
- Remove the old belt from your unit
- Replace the old belt with a new belt and have the opening facing the inside of the unit.
¶ Kink the belt
- Fold over the belt so the teeth mesh with eachother.
- The bottom end of the belt will have the fold-over be flush with the bottom of the Z Yoke Spacer.
- You will pull the slack out of the belt and have the extra belt sticking up and out of the top of the Z Yoke Spacer.
¶ Open up the Belt
- Using a 2.5mm hex to open the belt loops in the Spacer so the bolt can slide through.
¶ Tilt the Yoke
- Tilt the Yoke back over the spacer to cover the belt retainment.
¶ Replace the bolts
- Using a 2.5 hex to replace the four 65mm M3 bolts to mount the Yoke to the linear rail.
- The two bolts that pass through the belts will have additional friction due to the belt.
¶ Tension the Belt
- Using a 2.5 hex to tighten the tensioner with the two bolts directly above the tensioner.
- Ensure the tensioner is evenly pulled by tightening each bolt a small amount at a time to ensure the tensioner is square.
¶ Replace Enclosure
Replace the enclosures removed during the prepping process.
